The first planning session with the Maverick County Sheriff Tom Schmerber and other county personnel was organized at the office of Commissioner R. Ruiz. The substation would be located in the midst of Eidson Road to be able to patrol the immediate vicinity of Pct. 4 and other colonias. Ruiz mentioned, “This project has been planned for over two years and I’m glad it will soon be a reality, the security and wellbeing of our citizens has been our priority.”

With the loan acquired by the county, now the search is on the way to acquire a property to begin construction of the anticipated sheriff substation to be of service for most of the southern section of the county.
