HOWARD FENDRICH, AP Pro Football Writer

Peyton Manning's Denver Broncos and Richard Sherman's Seattle Seahawks were the NFL's best all season, so it's fitting that they'll meet in the Super Bowl.

Nobody scored as many points or gained as many yards as the Broncos.

Nobody allowed as few points or gave up as few yards as the Seahawks.

And nobody won as many games as those clubs, either.

-Commissioner's Court

An item which we recently ran in reference to the weather monitor at the Maverick County Airport was revisited at the recent Special Meeting of Commissioner's Court as County Commissioner Robert Ruiz presided over the meeting in the absence of County Judge David Saucedo.

Andy Valato of EagleMed LLC was on hand to inform Commissioner's Court that the internet connection at the airport was not adequate for the weather monitoring equipment presently being installed at the airport.

According to Valato an internet serviceman climbed the tower adjacent to the airport that will house an $11,000 antenna for internet service at the Maverick County Water Tower.

This equipment will provide 99.8% reliability which is required for equipment of this nature which is being installed to give the Air Evac Team when approaching and leaving Eagle Pass with our most precious cargo, loved ones in need of emergency medical care.

The item was approved pending the review of legal counsel.

Police: Shooter warned some students away
RUSSELL CONTRERAS, Associated Press
SUSAN MONTOYA BRYAN, Associated Press

ROSWELL, N.M. (AP) — Authorities say the 12-year-old boy who opened fire in a New Mexico middle school gym warned some students away just before the attack.

State Police Chief Pete Kassetas says the attack was planned in advance. But he says it appears the boy's victims, an 11-year-old boy and 13-year-old girl, were chosen randomly.

During a Wednesday press briefing, Kassetas declined to speculate on a motive or say when charges would be filed. But he said the boy got the shotgun from his family's home and had three rounds of ammunition.

Officials say the boy who was shot in the face and neck remains in critical condition at University Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas. The girl is in satisfactory condition with injuries to the right shoulder.
