When Angie Diaz went to work on Friday, it was after she had said goodbye to her fifth grade son who got on the bus that day to go to school just like any other day.
She never expected that the next time she would see him would be with a breathing tube in his mouth in a hospital.
"When I finally got to the hospital, I saw my son was intubated and I asked the principal what had happened, I sent my son to school today and he was fine.  Three hours later I see him in the hospital like this."
She said that the principal of the school said he was barely going to go to PE when this happened.
"My son was healthy, he wouldn't have collapsed just to collapse, I know my son."  I asked her, "Did they make him do exercise?  She said, they hadn't begun."
She said that the next thing she knew was that they were going to transfer her son to San Antonio.  She also mentioned this wasn’t the first time he had collapsed during PE class.  The student had collapsed two months ago, went to the doctor and was told he was fine.
"They called me to the hospital to tell me they had done five minutes of PE, and I told him he was an active child and I see him playing here everyday and he would play football with the other kids and never showed signs of collapsing.
"My daughter was furious, but they were never able to explain to her what had happened there that day.
"The school district sent a police officer to us in San Antonio to ask if he had woken up.
"The school district has changed the version of what happened several times.
Ms. Diaz went on to add that her son's friends have posted many accounts of what had happened on various social network sites.
"The physician said he showed no signs of brain activity, but he was fine, the doctor said it was due to negligence and that they took too long to give him oxygen after he collapsed, by the time they did do so, it was too late."
"I feel like they have taken a part of my soul." said the mother of the fifth grade student who recently collapsed and later lost his battle for life in a San Antonio hospital, "I can't tell you how hard it is to lose a child, especially the way this happened."

Coach Roger Olivas informed The New Gram of the fact that several of his Eagle Pass Eagles are off to the Region IV Track Meet which will be held this weekend at Alamo Stadium in San Antonio.
"All the kids did well.  The competition was top level," stated Head Track Coach Roger Olivas, "Our kids stepped up and did magnificently.  Ty continues to be one of the top jumpers in the state as he won this competition by four feet with an amazing 47' 5 1/4".  Olivas says that many schools still inquire about Chisum for his abilities in track and field despite his being committed to attend and play QB at Texas A&M Kingsville.
"Our 800 meter runner (Javier Guevara) is one of the top 800 meter runners in the region.
Sophomore Riche Flores missed out of advancing to Regionals by one spot with a 15.92 in the 110 meter high hurdles as did the 800 meter relay team of Jose Valero, Rich Gonzalez, Eli Guardiola and Mark Venegas.
"Our mile relay got second and is one of the top in the region.  I just got a call from UTSA and they will be looking at RJ Valdez in both the 400 meters and the mile relay."
Olivas also mentioned that both Javier Guevara and Victor Garcia have been sought after by several colleges, however they will both be going to UT on academic scholarships.
"Iram Gaitan came in fourth in the shot put, but he's been known to throw in the 50's and if he can do that, he can go to state and make some noise at regionals.    Our discus thrower Cristian Maldonado is peaking at the right time.
The Region IV AAAAAA Track Meet begins today at Alamo Stadium.
